What Causes Snoring?
When you sleep, your airway can become blocked and cause snoring.
Many people aren't aware that they snore. In some cases, your snoring may be loud enough to wake up others in your household. You may even wake up gasping or choking because your breathing is completely blocked. These can be symptoms of a serious condition called obstructive sleep apnea. We provide both snoring and sleep apnea treatments at Beach Cities ENTS, empowering patients throughout Torrance and El Segundo, CA to sleep restfully and enjoy the benefits of better breathing.
Should I Be Worried About My Snoring?
If you snore, you need an evaluation from a qualified doctor at Beach Cities ENTS. Your provider will perform in-depth tests to determine the cause of your snoring. These tests also include an assessment for sleep apnea.
People with sleep apnea often feel groggy during the day. They may have memory problems, trouble focusing, or feelings of depression.
Sleep apnea also increases your risk of high blood pressure, heart attacks, and stroke. Treatment helps lower these risks so you can sleep soundly and feel refreshed during the day.
How is Snoring Treated?
Beach Cities ENTS offers a wide range of snoring treatments. Your provider will help you review your options and choose a treatment that's right for you.
Your treatment plan may include:
- Lifestyle changes: adequate sleep, weight loss, healthy eating
- Avoiding alcohol and smoking
- Changing sleeping position
- Prescription medications
- Nasal strips or sprays
- Dental appliances
These treatments may help reduce inflammation in the nose and sinuses. They can also realign your jaw and relieve pressure on your face and throat.
If you have sleep apnea, your provider might suggest a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) mask. This machine applies steady air pressure to keep your airways open while you sleep. CPAP masks help reduce your risk of heart problems and other serious complications.
Snoring Treatment Reviews
My 13 year old suffered from horrible snoring & apnea for years. Dr Levine operated to remove both the tonsils and adenoids & the results were phenomenal. Dr Levine was absolutely amazing. His work was flawless. Bravo!!!
Dr. Levine changed my life (and my husband is happy too!) I can breathe easier and my constant snoring is a thing of the past. His office was very professional and on top of everything. I really appreciated the call after my surgery to see how I was doing. I have never waited more than 5 minutes In the waiting room for an appointment, and have never felt rushed by Dr. Levine. I would give more than 5 stars if I could.
Beach Cities ENT was a great experience from beginning to end! I liked their texting option and they got back to me within 20 minutes to schedule an appointment. When we got there, I was seen by Dr. Eivaz who has the best “bedside manner” I’ve ever encountered. He made me feel comfortable and spent time solving my ear issue on the spot. Amazing doctor! I was very impressed. Wouldn’t go to anyone else! I will refer all my friends. My husband will see him for some snoring issues in a couple of weeks, which by the way, he spent a few minutes chatting with him and making him comfortable, even though we were there for me this time. Thank you so much for your professionalism Beach Cities ENT. 😃😃
What can I say, Dr. Levine is the best. He, along with his cadre, cured my decade-long sinusitis. I am now seeing Dr. Levine for loud, open mouth, keep you awake-all-night snoring.Dr. Levine is still the best. I had a tonsillectomy today as a 53 year old with chronic, loud open mouth, keep your wife awake all night snoring. The surgery went amazing, which is not a surprise.Surgery scheduler Wanda is equally amazing as she was very patient w my scheduling issues during these trying times. Its obvious to me that Dr. Levine and his team made a commitment to excellence a long time ago and have maintained a steady course during the voyage.Big E

Can Surgery Help With My Snoring?
If your symptoms don't respond to other treatments, you might need surgery. Nasal congestion, polyps, and large tonsils can all contribute to snoring. Surgery may help to remove these obstructions and clear your airway.
Inspire® can also help relieve snoring airway collapse causes. This treatment uses a small neurostimulator device that is placed in your neck and chest during a simple outpatient procedure.
While you sleep, Inspire delivers gentle electrical stimulation to your tongue to prevent your airway from relaxing. The stimulation is not painful and doesn't wake you up during the night. Unlike CPAP masks, Inspire requires no cumbersome machinery or noisy devices.
Other surgical procedures can alleviate your symptoms. Your surgeon may recommend:
- Septoplasty — straightens a crooked septum inside the nose
- Tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy — increases breathing space in the throat
- Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty or expansion pharyngoplasty — removes excess palate tissues
Your provider can help you decide if surgery or Inspire is right for you. The Beach Cities ENTS specialists work with patients in Torrance and El Segundo, CA to provide top-quality care before and after each procedure.
